Ss. put on their favourite outfit and tell why they like it, when and where they wear it, etc. Or: Ss. could also be asked to walk around and choose their favourite clothing item or outfit in a shop (good for those who don't have fancy outfits. The other ss ask follow-up qus.

Encourage follow-up questions

Practise speaking

Personalising activity

Set different situations, ss choose what to wear.

Ask what they are wearing and why?

Alternatively: Students choose an outfit/wear it. The other students try to guess the situtation (I think, it could be, in my opinion…)

Personalise activity

Practise present cont.

Stating opinion

Elementary (controlled practise)

I usually wear … but today I'm wearing … because.

  • There should be  some vocabulary practise / review at some point.
  • Hand students a note card with vocab that came up (can be put into a note card dispenser).
  • If there is a class wiki or voicethread, vocab and other relevant language can be added for further practise.
  • The lesson could be extended to a discussion appropriate to the level (How important is clothing/outfit in SL/RL? Why? Do you buy clothing in SL?
  • Lesson could be extended to teach shopping vocab and do customer-shop assistant role-plays (in a shop setting)

Homework (optional): Students can write about this or another outfit+ add pics. This could be a notecard handed to the teacher or even better written in the wiki on a new page with this topic, so there would be a collection of ss texts. (no teacher feedback or correction) / If there is a class blog, students could also write it there, which would have the added advantage of allowing others to comment.
