Alicia, thanks for adding content to this page. To all others, if you think there is a skill we need to know, please add it. If you know how, add this under tutorial.

Hope it will be useful for all of us,including me. I guess will be nice if the rest can add a skill they consider important to manage. There are thousands of them to know, I guess.

Hi Nergiz! I tried changing the slurl to the 'tutorial' column. I guess the columns will finish where : T-S is mentioned. There will be no need for a further column.....I do not dare deleting the one after in case I make a mistake...do you know how to do it? Tks!!

Fixed it Alicia. There is no need to be afraid to change things as there is the page history button on the top. When you click on it, it will lead you to a page with a list of changes/versions and their dates. By deleting your latest version when something goes wrong, you will get the previous version.

I'm not sure where to ask my question so that people will read it (Google Groups is still not that active but I will also post it there). My question is: How difficult is it to record an SL session? I assume that it slows your computer down and thus also SL, right? Is there a free recording software that doesn't limit time (like Jing - 5 min)? What about recording voice only? What's the best way (quality and ease of use)?. OK, OK, that's many questions. I know :)

You need screen capturing fowater if you're going to capture video. The only decent free product I know is CamStudio. If you can afford it (around US$40) I would buy FRAPS. If you want really professional, then Camtasia. However, you will need a lot of RAM and a very good graphics card as essentially you are rendering the video twice - once for SL and once for the program capturing it - and because SL is so grapics heavy this means you need a very powerful computer. You also want a fast hard drive with lots of space - with a window size of 800 x 600 SL will capture at 1GB of drive space every four minutes.
For just capturing audio, use Audacity with a suitable sound card which has the 'What U Hear' option (Soundblaster cards generally have this) - you can then capture everything that you can hear on your computer. I generally do this on a second computer logged in with a second avatar who doesn't speak!

Whe I typed 'fowater' I obviously meant to type 'software' :-)

hehe, Gavin, what kind of typo is that? :) You did a great job as a moderator today. And thanks for your reply here. Much appreciated.
OK, that's a bit disillusioning but what did I expect? :) All right, so video will have to wait for a while then until I get a faster connection (telecom here has just announced very fast connections for a reasonable price) and a second computer (which I am planning to buy anyway). Hm, I forgot to say that I'm on a Mac. I do have audacity. So, I will start with audio. But why a second computer with a second avatar?
